Which age-group do I start with and is there progression and continuity?
This is your decision but whichever group you start with La Jolie Ronde has a complete course with flashcards, CD's and activity books. There are different starting points, between the 5-11 year olds, to suit different ages and abilities. Then the children progress in a structured way, learning methodically. They enjoy organised and constantly changing activities. La Jolie Ronde has found a balance between the concern to give a structured learning experience and the need to relate directly to a life in a world where communication skills are paramount.
Is there flexibility in the course?
In addition to the flexibility of the starting points, La Jolie Ronde suggests strategies to help teachers deal with some of the problems they might encounter such as mixed-ability groups, a new pupil, pupils with learning difficulties, a new teacher, etc.......
Is it just a headstart?
Parents and teachers know that a second language is important for the children who will be tomorrow's Europeans. There is much talk about giving the children a 'headstart' as if language learning was a race. Children need a good and positive learning experience which allows them to enjoy learning at a pace and through activities suited to their stage of development. La Jolie Ronde is years ahead in terms of pedagogy and flexibility of programme. Its main priority is to provide children with 'tools' and skills which they can use to good effect at Secondary school and throughout life. We don't just scratch the surface. We at La Jolie Ronde delve deeper to give teacher and pupil alike a quality experience.
Is photocopying needed? Are there worksheets to prepare?
No. Everything is done for you. We know that it will be time-consuming for you to devise a structured programme - indeed it has taken us over 10 years of development! Therefore, you can rely on La Jolie Ronde. Speak to other teachers who use the programmes. We can put you in touch with many teachers throughout Great Britain and abroad.
I am a non-specialist teacher. Will I get support?
You do need an understanding of how the language works and the ability to use it properly. Clear and extensive teacher's notes guide the non-specialist teacher through each programme. CD's provide linguistic support and La Jolie Ronde offers on-going support in the La Jolie Ronde method and materials. La Jolie Ronde has been created by teachers for teachers. Seminars and training days are organised annually.
I am a specialist teacher. Is there enough material available?
Yes. Specialist teachers will find sufficient material within the programmes or they can draw on their expertise and experience to pull out new ideas and to add points of language and culture which will enrich the learning experience. You know your strengths and your pupils' needs. La Jolie Ronde publishes additional resources which can be used in conjunction with the structured programme.
What about transition to Secondary?
There will be a record of the children's progress to pass on to Secondary School. The La Jolie Ronde method works towards a smooth transition to Key Stage 3 when children will have acquired skills and good learning habits and a positive approach to language learning.
Is it Fun?
